Domestic indices trade lower, mirroring a decline in global markets.
As investors analysed recent economic data amid a choppy trading session in domestic bourses, major Wall Street indices ended lower overnight. Investors had constant worries about rising interest rates to control inflation. All of the major Asian indices experienced a decline today, following the direction of US markets.

The biggest loser was Hong Kong's Hang Seng, which plunged nearly 2%. With a loss of 140 points, SGX Nifty signalled a gap-down opening for the broader index in India. Expectedly, auto, real estate, and banking stocks significantly dragged down the opening of the Indian domestic indices.
At 12:10 pm, the BSE Sensex declined 0.31%, reaching a level of 59,014. The Nifty 50 index fell 0.28% to 17,605 level. The biggest gainers on the Sensex were UltraTech Cement Company, Nestle and Bajaj Finance, whereas Bharti Airtel, IndusInd Bank and Mahindra and Mahindra were the top losers.
In the broader markets, the BSE Midcap index gained 0.16% and was trading at a level of 25,742 while the Smallcap index jumped 0.52% and was trading at a level of 29,237.
Shares of Igarashi Motors India surged and locked in a 20% upper circuit, outperforming the rest of the BSE Smallcap pack. Price-volume breakouts were also seen in the shares of Hindustan Foods and EIH Ltd, which each saw gains of over 10%.
