Low Price Shares locked in Upper Circuit on October 3,2022

On Monday, the investors reacted to the rate hikes along with dampened foreign inflows and muted global cues which led Nifty 50 to decline over 100 points and trade below 17,000 levels and BSE Sensex fell over 500 points to hit a low of 56,875 levels. 

Towards the noon session, the stocks of NTPC, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Ultratech Cement and Bharti Airtel were the top gainers whereas Maruti Suzuki, Kotak Mahindra, IndusInd Bank, HUL and HDFC Bank were the top losers.

On the sectoral front, all sectors traded on a volatile note with the oil & gas sector taking the lead, zooming more than 1% while banking stocks took a hit and d the BSE Bankex Index contracted more than 1%. Oil & Gas stocks are likely to be on a buzz as the government hiked prices of domestically produced natural gas for the October 2022-March 2023 period. The rate for gas produced from old fields hiked 7 to USD 8.57/mmbtu from USD 6.1/mmbtut. ONGC, BPCL and Hindustan Petroleum were the top oil & gas stocks within the BSE Oil & Gas Index. 

Meanwhile, at noon, the broader markets outperformed benchmark indices where BSE Midcap and BSE SmallCap indices climbed by over 0.25% and 0.48%, each. 

Amid the volatility, the shares of FSN E-Commerce Ventures (Nykaa) jumped 11% to Rs 1,411.80 after the company’s board approved bonus shares in the ratio of 5:1 i.e., five bonus shares for every one share held in the company and traded at its highest level since August 19.
