Sensex and Nifty 50 trade flat amid weak global cues, dragged by metal stocks.
Markets in Asia were mixed as China's GDP fell short of expectations. The decline in tech stocks caused Hang Seng in Hong Kong to drop by more than 2%. Alibaba's US-listed shares fell more than 4% overnight amid reports that law enforcement officials had called the company's executives to question them about the theft of police data.

SGX Nifty indicated a flat opening for the broader index in India with a gain of 19 points. At 1:05 pm, the Nifty 50 was trading at the 15,970.35 level, rising by 0.20%. On the Nifty 50 index, the top gainers were Tata Consumer Products, Titan and Bharti Airtel whereas Wipro, Tata Steel and HCL Technologies were the top losers of the session.
Sensex was trading at a level of 53,497.20, up by 0.15%. The top gainers were Mahindra and Mahindra, Hindustan Unilever Ltd and Titan whereas Tata Steel, Wipro and HCL Technologies were the market draggers. While the auto and telecom sector names witnessed gains, BSE Metals was the biggest loser, with shares of Jindal Steel and Tata Steel falling more than 2%.
