Today NIFTY METAL was the best performing index and NIFTY IT was the worst-performing index.
Frontline equity indices snapped the three-day losing streak in today’s trade. Nifty 50 closed in green with a gain of 144.80 points. It opened at 17698.15 against the previous close of 17639.55, which means a gap up of 58.60 points. After slipping into negative for a brief period it saw a smart recovery. Overall, we saw that more stocks closed in green.
In today’s trade the best performing index was NIFTY METAL it was up by 2.07%. This is followed by NIFTY FMCG, which was up by 2.03%. The worst performing index in today's trade was NIFTY IT. It is down by 0.08%. Out of the total 10.0 companies forming part of the index, 4.0 companies closed in red, and 6.0 closed in green.
Companies that supported Nifty 50 in today’s trade were Reliance Industries, ITC, JSW Steel, Grasim and SBI Life Insurance, together they contributed around 70 points gain in index. While the companies that dragged the index were Cipla, Tech Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, HDFC Bank and HCL Tech. These companies contributed around 10 points towards the fall of Nifty 50.
Overall market today was in favour of advances. At close advance to decline ratio stood at 363:124.
