Weekly movers: Hits and misses in the large cap space during the week!
Last Updated: 17th June 2022 - 04:15 pm
Here’s a list of the top 5 gainers and losers this week in the large-cap space.
There seems to be no relief to the markets in the near term. On Monday (13 June 2022), for the first time ever, the rupee crossed 78 against the US dollar, hitting a record low. But, the highlight of the week was the US Fed meeting, which was held on Wednesday. While the rate hike was a no-brainer considering the inflation woes, all eyes were set on the quantum of the hike. To curb the persistently high inflation levels, the US central bank announced a rate hike of 75 bps to a range of 1.5% to 1.75%. Post this, the Indian markets saw an intensified sell-off, led by FIIs. Owing to this, the markets are in turmoil. The frontline index S&P BSE Sensex lost nearly 7% in the last 5 sessions. During the same period, on the sectoral front, all the major indices tumbled. Metals took a hit of nearly 10%, followed by the energy & IT index, which slipped by 6.7% each.
Let us have a look at the top gainers and losers in the large-cap space during this period.
