Top smallcap stocks with the highest Piotroski score
Last Updated: 9th December 2022 - 08:59 am
With markets being quite volatile, investing in companies with sound financials makes sense. In this article, we would be listing top smallcap stocks having high Piotroski score.
Last week on Wednesday, the World Bank cut its economic growth forecast for India and all of the South Asian region, due to worsening supply bottlenecks and rising inflation risks amid the Ukraine crisis. The World Bank lowered its growth estimate for India to 8% from 8.7% for the current fiscal year and for South Asia, excluding Afghanistan, it cuts the growth outlook by a per cent to 6.6%.
On April 13, 2022, Nifty ended lower for the third successive session at 17,475.7, down 54.7 points or 0.31%. Nifty performed poor among the other Asian indices (excluding China). Sustained high inflation and tightening monetary policy globally are bringing caution among the participants. Southwards, 17,000 to 17100 range could act as good support, while on northwards 17300-17500 band is likely to offer good resistance this week.
Having said that, it makes complete sense to gradually accumulate stocks with sound financials and nothing better than looking at companies with high Piotroski score.
What is a Piotroski score?
The Piotroski score is a discrete score ranging from zero and nine where the companies are put through nine criteria where one criterion carries one point. This score is used to understand the financial strength of a company. This is particularly popular among value investors where a score of nine is the best and zero is the worst. The Piotroski score majorly checks the company’s profitability, leverage, liquidity, source of funds and operating efficiency.
