List of top 5 gainers and losers this week in the Large-cap space.
The Indian markets extended gains for the fifth straight session amid weak global cues and weekly expiry. Power was the key performer in the past week with the S&P Bse Power Index rising at 6.95%, well supported by the capital goods and infra index. Post the IT results, there was profit booking was seen in IT stocks, however, the S&P BSE Information Technology is still up 2.21% during the past 5 trading sessions.
In the period from Friday i.e. January 07 to January 13, 2022, the blue-chip NSE Nifty 50 index rose 2.50% from 17,812.70 to 18,257.80. Similarly, the S&P BSE Sensex registered an increase of 2.50% from 59,744.65 to 61,235.30.

Adani Group Stock:
Adani Group stocks - Adani Green Energy, Adani Power and Adani Transmission were all among the top gainers in the Large-cap space over the past 5 trading sessions. Shares of Adani Green Energy were by up 17%, helped by the strong Q3 business update of the Adani Group firm. Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) said the sale of energy increased by 97% year on year (YoY) at 2,504 million units backed by robust performance in both Solar and Wind portfolios. The company further said it signed the World's Largest Green power purchase agreement (PPA) with SECI to supply 4,667 MW. This takes the total signed PPAs to near 6,000 MW out of 8,000 MW awarded to AGEL under SECI's manufacturing linked solar tender.
Meanwhile, the shares of Adani Power jumped 16.72% in the past week, while Adani Transmission was up 14.12%. Earlier this week, Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) and Adani Power decided to amicably resolve their decades-old dispute over a 1,000 MW power purchase agreement (PPA) in an out-of-court settlement.
Tata Elxsi:
Tata Elxsi’s share price climbed more than 10.39% in a week when information technology stocks, including Infosys, Wipro, and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), remained in focus following the announcement of their earnings for the third quarter ended December 31, 2021. The upward movement in the shares of the Tata group’s company also comes a day after it informed the exchanges that Life Insurance Corporation Of India (LIC) bought a 1.04% stake (6,49,786 equity shares) in the stock during the October-December 2021 period.
Trent:
Shares of Tata Group company, Trent Limited rose 9.10% in the past week on closed at Rs 1182.90 on Thursday, January 13, 2022. The retail vertical of the Tata group is known for its brand’s Westside, Star Bazaar and Landmark. Trent’s fashion business reported a remarkable recovery in H1FY22 and the momentum is expected to continue in H2FY22 as well aided by a strong festive and wedding season led buying. Management has indicated that it will continue to focus on store expansions at an accelerated pace of more than 100 stores per annum between Westside and Zudio over the next few years.
