The year 2022 has been extremely volatile so far. Amidst volatility, most of the global indices have managed to stay in the green. Nifty 50 is up by 1% till April 2022, while the key benchmark index is up by 5.41% in one month alone. What is surprising to note is the outperformance of FTSE 100 in 2022 to date.
The index that gauges the performance of listed companies in England is up by an impressive 2.70% on a YTD basis while the index is up by 6% in one month alone. The other European indices, such as CAC 40 and DAX are down by 8.95% and 11.53%, respectively on YTD basis even as both the indices are up by 4.04% and 3.12%, respectively in the past one month.
The Asian indices are seen underperforming Indian markets with Hang Seng down by 9% and Nikkie slipping by 8.5% on YTD basis. In one month, however, both the Asian indices are seen gaining weight in line with the global mood.
We have seen banks outperform so far in 2022 and the performance of ITC has also surprised the market participants. ITC is up by more than 20% in 2022 so far and has gained by 10.7% in one month alone.
