At market close on Monday, the core equity indices ended lower due to weak global cues from Asia Pacific markets.

The Sensex was at 54,395.23, down by 86.61 points or 0.16% and the Nifty 50 closed at 16,216, down by 4.60 points or 0.03%.

The top trending stocks on the BSE were Adani Green Energy, Adani Total Gas, ITC, TCS, Siemens, and HCL Technologies.

These stocks are likely to be in focus for Tuesday's trading session -

Zydus Lifesciences LimitedZydus Lifesciences Ltd (formerly known as Cadila Healthcare Ltd), recently announced that the company has received final approval from the United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) to market Empagliflozin and Metformin Hydrochloride Tablets in the strengths of 5 mg/500 mg, 5 mg/1000 mg, 12.5 mg/500 mg, and 12.5 mg/1000 mg (US RLD: Synjardy). Empagliflozin and Metformin Hydrochloride tablets are used with proper diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The shares of the pharma company ended higher by 1.30% on the BSE.

Avenue Supermarts Limited: Avenue Supermarts, the operator of DMart retail stores, has recently reported a profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 679.64 crore in Q1FY23, a jump of about 490% from Rs 115.13 crore year-on-year (YoY). The growth which came on the back of a strong top-line was however distorted because of the overhang of the Covid pandemic. The Mumbai-based company also reported a 94% increase in its revenue from operations which came in at Rs 9,806.89 crore, while it was at Rs 5,301.75 crore in Q1FY22. The shares of the company ended 1.15% higher on the BSE.

Power Grid Corporation of India LimitedUnder tariff-based competitive bidding, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited has been named the winning bidder to develop an interstate transmission system for the "Transmission System for Evacuation of Power from Neemuch SEZ" on a build, own operate and transfer (BOOT) basis. The shares of the company ended 0.80% lower on the BSE.
