The benchmark indices started the week with a cautious trading session amid selling seen in the realty, oil & gas and PSU banking names.
At close, the Sensex was down 503.25 points or 0.86% at 58,283.42, and the Nifty was down 143.00 points or 0.82% at 17,368.30. About 1840 shares have advanced, 1554 shares declined, and 158 shares are unchanged.
Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, Tata Consumer Products, Reliance Industries and M&M were among the top Nifty losers. Gainers included Tech Mahindra, Axis Bank, Maruti Suzuki, Wipro and SBI Life Insurance.
Among sectors, except Nifty IT all other sectoral indices ended in the red. Coforge, LTI, Mphasis, LTTS and Tech Mahindra are the top stocks in Nifty IT.
In the broader markets, the BSE midcap index was down 0.5%, while smallcap index was up 0.20%.

Strides Pharma – After forming a series of red candles in previous trading sessions, the stock has formed a green candle with an attractive spurt in volumes on the charts. The RSI, as well as MACD, are trading in a positive direction indicating bullish sentiments for further trading sessions. The stock has zoomed 6.35% in Monday’s trading session. On a one month and six-month basis, the stock has delivered negative returns of 4.78% and –40.14%, respectively.
52-week high stocks – From the BSE 100 pack, the stocks of Adani Green, Siemens, Tech Mahindra and Zee Entertainment Enterprises have hit their 52-week high prices on Monday. Keep a watch on these stocks for Tuesday's trading session.
