At market close on Thursday, the Sensex was up by 874.1 points or 1.53% at 57,911.68 and the Nifty was up by 256.05 points or 1.49% at 17,392.60.
The US markets turned positive as market giants like Tesla and United Airlines posted better than expected quarterly earnings.
On the BSE, about 2,276 shares have advanced, 1,145 shares declined, and 100 shares are unchanged.
These stocks are likely to be in focus for Friday's trading session -
Infosys Limited: Infosys has completed the acquisition of Oddity, Germany-based digital marketing, experience, and commerce agency. This follows the announcement the company made on March 22, 2022. The acquisition further strengthens Infosys’ creative, branding and experience design capabilities, and demonstrates its continued commitment to co-create with clients and help them navigate their digital transformation journey. Shares of Glenmark Pharma were at Rs 501.60, up by 3.41% at market close on Thursday.
HDFC Bank Limited: The shares of HDFC Bank surged up to 2% on Thursday. The stock witnessed a positive uptick in the afternoon session, as the Banking sector also gained over 1.5%. This rally comes as good news for the company since the scrip eroded over 20% of its total gain since the announcement of its merger with HDFC Ltd. HDFC Bank posted good performance results for Q4FY22, where its net profit increased by 24.05% as compared to the same quarter in the last year. The scrip of HDFC Bank was at Rs 1374.25, up by 1.45% at the market close on the BSE.
Mahindra & Mahindra Limited: In intra-day trade on Thursday, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) shares were up 3.5% at Rs 914 on the BSE. The stock has outpaced the market in the last month, rising 14% on expectations of continued growth. The shares of the passenger automobile and utility vehicle ma[node:summary]nufacturer recovered 33% from hitting a 52-week low of Rs 671 on March 8, 2022. On November 17, 2021, the stock reached a 52-week high of Rs 978.90. The stock ended at 3.50% higher, on the BSE on Thursday.
52-week high stocks – From the BSE 500 pack, the stocks of Angelo One, PNC Infratech, L&T Finance Holdings, Zensar Technologies, Jubilant FoodWorks, CRISIL, and Welspun Corporation have hit their 52-week high on Thursday.
