On Thursday, the headline indices Sensex and Nifty 50, opened flat, amidst the volatility in the global markets and ended marginally on the lower side at the day’s end.
The Sensex was at 58,568.51, down by 115.48 points or 0.20% and the Nifty was at 17,464.75, down by 33.50 points or 0.19%.
On the BSE, 1,500 shares have advanced, 1,896 shares have declined, and 111 shares are unchanged.
These stocks are likely to be in focus for Friday's trading session:
Bharti Airtel Limited: Bharti Airtel and Tech Mahindra, have announced a strategic partnership to build and market innovative solutions for India’s digital economy by bringing together their core strengths. Airtel and Tech Mahindra will set up a joint 5G innovation lab for developing Make in India use cases for the Indian and global markets. The companies will initially focus on segments such as Automobiles, Aviation, Ports, Utilities, Chemicals, Oil & Gas and expand to other industries going forward. The scrip of Airtel was up by 0.80% on the BSE.
IIFL Wealth Limited: Private equity firm Bain Capital said it will acquire a 24.98 % stake in IIFL Wealth Management Limited for Rs 3,679 crore. BC Asia Investments X Limited, a subsidiary of Bain Capital, has proposed to pick up a Rs 2.2 crore stake held by General Atlantic Singapore Fund Pte Ltd and FIH Mauritius Investments Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fairfax India Holdings Corporation in IIFL Wealth Management Limited (IIFLWAM). A share purchase agreement was executed on March 30, 2022, with General Atlantic Singapore Fund and FIH Mauritius Investments. The stocks of IWML surged to 0.63% to end at Rs 1677.05 on the BSE.
GAIL (India) Limited: The company approved a buyback of about 5.70 crore shares at Rs 190 per share aggregating to about Rs 1,083 crore (excluding taxes). The buyback price of equity shares is at a 24% premium on the previous day's close price at NSE. The decision was taken by the company's board of directors at its meeting today to consider buy back of the fully paid-up equity shares of the company. The Board approved buyback of about 5.70 crore shares through tender offer represents 2.50% of its paid-up capital and free reserves as on March 31, 2021. The shares of GAIL were at Rs 155.70, up by 1.50% at market close on the BSE.
52-week high stocks: From the BSE 200 pack, the stocks of Adani Power, Jindal Steel, Cummins India, Adani Enterprises, Tata Elxsi have hit their 52-week high on Thursday.
