Nifty 50 began lower on the back of negative global trends. In this post, we have highlighted the top stocks that are experiencing a solid price volume breakout.
Nifty 50 index began lower at 18,084.75 compared to its previous closing of 18,132.3. This was due to flat to negative global trends. The leading Wall Street indices began the new week with losses on Tuesday. This was due to increased Treasury rates, which weighed on interest rate sensitive and growth stocks.
So far this year, US growth stocks have fallen more than 30%, compared to a 7.5% drop in the same period last year. In overnight trade, Nasdaq Composite fell 1.38%, Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 0.11%, and S&P 500 dropped 0.4%. With the exception of the Hang Seng, all Asian indices fell on Wednesday amid an overnight pullback on Wall Street.
Nifty 50 was trading at 18,129.3 at 11:40 a.m., down 3 points or 0.02%. When compared to frontline indices, broader market indices performed mixed. Nifty Mid-Cap 100 index rose 0.25%, while Nifty Small-Cap 100 index declined 0.04%.
The advance-decline ratio on the BSE was favourable, with 2063 stocks rising, 1199 falling and 164 staying unchanged. PSU banks, realty and automobiles were the top gainers, while pharma, IT and metals were the top losers.
According to December 27 statistics, FIIs were net sellers while DIIs were net purchasers. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) sold Rs 867.65 crore worth of shares. DIIs (Domestic Institutional Investors) purchased shares worth Rs 621.81 crore.
