Nifty 50 opened higher but is likely to track Wall Street’s prominent futures indices. In this article, we have listed the top stocks that are experiencing a price volume breakout.
Nifty 50 opened higher on Tuesday at 17,905.8 as against its previous close of 17,844.6. This was despite pressures seen in the key Wall Street indices futures as well as a mixed performance of Asian peers. The US markets were closed on Monday on account of President’s Day. However, its futures indices traded in red ahead of Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) and existing home sales print.
Global Markets
Nasdaq 100 futures were down 0.16%, Dow Jones futures declined 0.12% and S&P 500 futures dropped 0.15% at the time of writing. Tracking the global cues, Asian market indices performed mixed. Apart from Japan’s Nikkei 225 index and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index, all others traded in the green.
Domestic Markets
At 10:10 a.m., Nifty 50 was trading at 17,890.15, up by 45.55 points or 0.26%. Broader market indices, on the other hand, underperformed frontline indices. Nifty Mid-Cap 100 index and Nifty Small-Cap 100 index gained 0.15% and 0.01%, respectively.
Market Statistics
On BSE, the advance-decline ratio was buoyant with 1588 stocks advancing, 1334 declining and 156 remaining unchanged. On the sectoral front, apart from PSU banks, realty and media, all other sectors are trading in green.
According to the data as on February 20, FIIs were net sellers and DIIs were net buyers. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) sold shares to the tune of Rs 158.95 crore. Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) bought shares worth Rs 86.23 crore.
