On the final trading day of the week, Nifty 50 began higher on the back of strong global trends. In this post, we highlighted top stocks that are experiencing a strong positive breakout.
On the last trading day of the week, Nifty 50 began higher at 18,662.4, up from its previous closing of 18,609.35. This was due to strong global trends. However, it was trading lower at the time of writing. On Thursday, key Wall Street indices finished in the green, breaking their losing run.
All eyes will be on the fresh producer pricing index (PPI) data to forecast the CPI reading due next week, as well as the US Fed's interest rate decision. It is expected that authorities will raise interest rates by 50 basis points.
In overnight trade, NASDAQ Composite gained 1.1% to 11,082, while the S&P 500 advanced 0.8% to 3,963.5. The Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped by 0.6% to 33,781.5. Asian markets are trading in the green, following the positive cues from Wall Street's overnight session.
Nifty 50 is trading at 18,556.25, down 53.1 points or 0.29%, at 11:07 a.m. Broader markets are outpacing frontline indices. Nifty Mid-Cap 100 index is up 0.35%, while the Nifty Small-Cap 100 index is down 0.2%.
FIIs are net sellers and DIIs are net purchasers, according to statistics as of December 9. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) sold Rs 1,131.67 crore worth of shares. Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) purchased shares worth Rs 772.29 crore.
