NSE Approaches SEBI for No Objection Certificate Ahead of IPO
Stock Market Holiday: List of Key BSE, NSE Closure Dates in April 2025

The month of April 2025 consists of three official stock market holidays, during which trading across various segments, including equities, derivatives, and securities lending and borrowing (SLB) will be suspended.

Here’s what to mark on your calendar for April 2025
- Mahavir Jayanti – Thursday, April 10
- Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti – Monday, April 14
- Good Friday – Friday, April 18
These breaks offer more than just downtime to traders and investors, as they’re also a chance to observe key cultural and national events, or just catch your breath with some extended weekends.
Impact on Trading and Settlement
On March 31, 2025, the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will function on a limited schedule, with trading available only during the evening session, which will run from 5:00 PM to 11:30/11:55 PM.
In April, however, all trading operations on the BSE and NSE will be halted. This includes transactions in the equity, derivatives, and SLB segments. Additionally, the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will also observe a full-day closure on Good Friday (April 18), and on Mahavir Jayanti (April 10), and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti (April 14). The National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX) will also remain fully closed on all three dates.
Plan Ahead, Trade Smart
If you're a trader or whether you’re managing a portfolio, keeping tabs on stock market holidays are key to managing them effectively. Such market holidays, especially around weekends can cause volatility, especially in derivatives markets and some global events aren’t factored in until the opening bell. So, plan your trade entries, exits, and settlements carefully.
Additionally, the market will also observe 14 holidays through the year, which will impact trading schedules and operations intermittently.
