Opening bell: Equity indices open lower amid negative global cues

On a sectoral basis only Power, Information Technologies, and Telecom are in green.
Asian stocks were trading lower on Friday as investors watched for market reaction to overnight remarks from US Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell.
The BSE Sensex plummeted by 515 points and is trading at 57,396.18 levels. BSE MidCap also moved downwards by 50 points and is trading at 24,823.72, while SmallCap has climbed by 35 points and is trading at 29,393.75 levels. The stocks trading in green on the BSE Sensex are HCL Technologies, Tech Mahindra, Power Grid Corporation of India, Bharti Airtel, and Tata Steel.
The Nifty 50 index after ending in green yesterday opened in red today down by 158 points and is now trading at 17,234.05 levels. Bank Nifty declined by 488 points and is trading at 36,327.30 levels. The gainers on Nifty 50 are HCL Technologies, Adani Ports, Tech Mahindra, ONGC, and Bharti Airtel.
The market outlook is positive as out of 2,934 stocks traded, the 1420 stocks advanced and 1,403 stocks have declined in the morning session, while 138 stocks are locked up in upper circuit and 75 are locked in the lower circuit today. There are 115 stocks that are trading at 52-week high and there are only 8 stocks that are trading at 52-week low.
