Mutual fund categories that performed well in November 2021

November 2021 was quite action-packed for the Indian market. This was very well reflected in mutual funds as well. Read on to find out more.
In the month of November 2021, markets (Nifty 50) did try to recover but failed to breach its all-time high of 18,604.45 made on November 19, 2021, and made a lower high. In fact, it further went down to make a lower low of 27,216.10. At the start of November, Nifty 50 opened at 17,783.15 and closed at 16,983.20 which is negative growth of 3.9%.
However, in the month of November 2021, there were different sectors that outperformed the market such as telecom, power, technology and healthcare generating returns of 6.66%, 3.56%, 2.7% and 1.87%, respectively. In fact, even broader markets have outperformed the market barometer. So, time and again it has been proved that why diversification is important.
Having said that, even in mutual funds the trend is the same. In fact, in the top 10 best performing categories there are only two categories that are dedicated to equity mutual funds. Rest all are debt mutual funds.
Moreover, categories such as banking, energy, PSU, value-oriented and large-cap funds have underperformed the rest of the categories generating negative returns of 8.2%, 6.13%, 3.6%, 3.53% and 3.06%, respectively.
