MF Update: January 2022 AUM is Rs 38.01 lakh crore

Domestic mutual fund AUM has increased by 0.8% on a sequential basis.
The asset under management (AUM) of the domestic mutual fund industry has increased by 0.8% on monthly basis to Rs 38.01 lakh crore for January 2022. Debt dedicated fund for the said month saw net inflows to the tune of Rs 5087.61 crore after witnessing an outflow of Rs 49,037.72 crore in the preceding month. Overnight funds saw a major inflow in January 2022 while most of the other funds saw net outflows in the same month.
Growth in the Hybrid category of funds saw the best growth numbers among all the categories and saw an increase of 1.8% in their AUM on a sequential basis in January 2022. Hybrid funds saw net inflows to the tune of Rs 6229.79 crore and within hybrid funds, it was Balanced Hybrid Fund/Aggressive Hybrid Fund that saw a major inflow to the tune of Rs 1539.8 crore compared to Rs 505 crore of inflow in the month of December 2021. Passively managed funds such as ETF and index funds continue to attract investors in January 2022, it saw net inflows of Rs 8860.97 crore.
For equity-oriented schemes, AUM increased by 0.3% on a month-on-month basis. All the categories of equity MF saw an inflow except for the value or contra fund category. The net inflow has declined to Rs 14877.77 crore in the month of January 2022 compared to an inflow of Rs 25082 crore in December 2021 primarily due to higher inflows from new fund offers (NFO). At the end of January 2022, the total AUM of equity-oriented funds was at Rs 13.37 lakh crore compared to Rs 13.33 lakh crore at the end of December 2021.
