JSW Energy Gains Attention with 300 MW Wind Power Project in Tamil Nadu

Shares of JSW Energy are attracting attention on September 16 following the company's announcement on Sunday that its step-down subsidiary, JSW Renew Energy Two Ltd, has successfully commissioned a 300 MW wind power project connected to the Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS). The project, awarded by Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) under Tranche X, is situated in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu.
This milestone represents JSW Energy's first greenfield wind power plant commissioned for SECI. The company highlighted that this project will significantly enhance its renewable energy portfolio. Additionally, the company noted that an additional 150 MW of wind capacity under SECI Tranche X, located in Dharapuram, Tamil Nadu, is nearing completion, with 138 MW already operational.
In the previous trading session, JSW Energy shares closed nearly 1% higher at ₹768.40 on the NSE. The stock has surged by 87% year-to-date, outperforming the Nifty's 14% return. Over the past 12 months, JSW Energy's stock has risen 95%, almost doubling investors' capital, while the Nifty index gained 28% during the same period.
With these developments, JSW Energy's total installed capacity now stands at 7,726 MW, and the company expects to complete an additional 2,114 MW of projects by the end of FY 2025. Currently, the company’s installed wind power capacity amounts to 2,152 MW.

This achievement moves us closer to our target of 10 GW installed capacity by FY2025. JSW Energy currently has a total locked-in generation capacity of 18.2 GW, which includes wind, solar, hydro, and thermal power plants. The company’s renewable energy pipeline stands at 8.3 GW, with power purchase agreements (PPAs) in place for 2.3 GW. Furthermore, JSW Energy has secured 4.2 GWh of energy storage capacity through its battery energy storage system and hydro pump storage projects.
The company has set ambitious targets to achieve 20 GW of generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by 2030, while aiming to become carbon neutral by 2050.
