Bajaj Auto consolidated monthly sales post decline in commercial vehicles sales

Stock price continues to fall, reflecting the slowdown in the two-wheeler segment.

On 1st July, Bajaj Auto Limited posted its monthly sales data for June 2022. Overall sales have been down on a year-on-year basis. The most affected segment was the two-wheeler domestic sales numbers. The company sold about 1,25,083 units of domestic 2-wheelers in June 2022 whereas it had sold 1,55,640 units in June 2021. A decline of 20% can be seen in the two-wheeler segment.

Also, the commercial vehicles segment, which had been supporting sales over several months now, showed degrowth of 39% in the exports market. Although domestic CV sales were up by 114%, total CV sales including domestic and exports witnessed a decline of 13%. It sold about 31,056 units in June 2022 against 35,558 units in June 2021. The export market which has been a strong suit of Bajaj Auto Ltd is witnessing a downtrend in CV sales. The total consolidated sales were almost flat on a YoY basis.

The sales in May 2022 reflected the continuation of the slowdown in the two-wheeler segment. Although, domestic sales growth looked great, but that was on the back on lower base value, as covid led lockdown had affected sales in May 2021. The total consolidated sales in May were slightly up by 1% on a YoY basis. The March 22 quarter ended results presented a mix of both positives and negatives. The net sales had de-grown by 8.14% while the profit after tax had grown by 10% on a YoY basis.

Reacting to the monthly sales numbers, the stock closed in red, down by 2.22% today at Rs 3,623.55.
