As we approach the Budget Day Special Trading Session on 1st February 2025, it is important for traders and investors to be aware of key market updates. While the markets will be open, it will be a clearing holiday, which means certain transactions and settlements will be affected.

What you need to know:

1. BTST trades will be executed on a best-effort basis. However, in case of settlement risk leading to the stock going into auction, any resulting losses and penalties will be solely borne by the client.

2. No clearing and settlement will take place on 1st February as it is a clearing holiday, meaning transactions will not be processed by clearing corporations.

3. Any F&O premium (from options sold), MTM profits, or intraday profits from 31st January will not be included in your available funds on 1st February. These credits will only reflect in your account on the next trading settlement day.

4. Mutual fund orders placed after 2:00 PM on 31st January will not be processed on 1st February despite the special session. Instead, these orders will be processed on Monday, 3rd February.

5. The commodity market will remain closed for the evening session on 1st February. All intraday commodity trades must be squared off by clients before market close. Any unattended intraday commodity trades will be squared off by the Risk team on best best-effort basis by 4.30 PM.

6. MTF Leverage on eligible securities will be capped at 2x.

7. Stock Option Contracts: Market orders will not be allowed—only Limit Orders can be placed.

8. Index Option Contracts: Market orders will be permitted; however, Limit Orders are recommended to minimize the impact of price fluctuations.
