About Tata Power
The Tata Power Company Limited is a private electric utility company based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Its role is to generate, transmit, and distribute energy within and outside the country. Tata Power is India's biggest integrated power company. It has a capacity of more than 13000 MW. In 2017, Tata Power Company Limited earned the distinction of becoming the first Indian power utility company to transport 1GW of solar modules abroad, printing the company's name on the list of the world's top energy players.
In the early 1900s,three hydroelectric entities, Tata Hydro-Electric Power Supply Company (in 1910), the Andhra Valley Power Supply Company (in 1916) and the Tata Power Company (in 1919), were incorporated by the Tata group. Together these three companies were referred to as the Tata Electric Companies. The other two entities were amalgamated into the Tata Power Company in the year 2000. The company commissioned India's first hydroelectric project (72MW) in 1915 in Khopoli. After that, the second power plant was installed in Bhivpuri (75 MW) in 1919, and the third power plant was installed in Bhira (300 MW) in 1922.
Tata Power Plant is present in 35 Indian locations. Internationally, Tata Power plants operate in Indonesia, South Africa, Singapore, and Bhutan, prompting other power companies to follow suit.
Tata Power - Sustainability Initiatives
In 1915, Tata Power installed the first hydropower station at India's Khopoli. The company has about 34% clean energy, including wind, solar power, and hydropower generation, in its portfolio. Tata Power aims to increase this percentile to between 40 and 50% within a few upcoming years.
Tata Power's CSR initiative 'Club Enerji' has undertaken many energy conservation practices with children and schools. In ten years, Club Enerji has worked with more than 533 schools, sensitized over 26.4 million citizens, and saved energy units worth around 31.8 million. The initiative is executed by a network of more than 3.6 lakh Energy Champions, about 4.1 lakh Energy Ambassadors and 2000+ self-sustaining Mini Energy Clubs.
Mahseer conservation project initiated by Tata Power aimed to conserve the endangered freshwater fish's biodiversity through breeding techniques and awareness. Tata Power has taken the sustainability initiative one step ahead with the launch of modern Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations in Hyderabad, Delhi, and Mumbai. India is gradually becoming a prime destination for EV vehicles, and Tata Power is playing a major role in the transformation by setting up EV charging stations rapidly.

Trombay Thermal Power Station
This 1,580 MW thermal power station was set up in 1956 near Mumbai in Maharashtra. When it was first commissioned, its capacity was 62.5 MW.
Jojobera Power Plant
The 67.5 MW and 3×120 MW thermal power plant was set up in Jojobera near Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, in 1996.
Maithon Power Plant
Tata Power and Damodar Valley Corporation jointly developed the 1,050 MW (2×525 MW) thermal coal-based Maithon Power Plant in 2011.
Mundra Ultra Mega Power Plant
The 4,000 MW (5×800 MW) thermal coal-based Mundra Ultra Mega Power Plant at Mundra, Gujarat, was commissioned in 2013.
