On Wednesday, the benchmark Nifty50 index reached a new record high and went over the 18,900 threshold at 18,908.15 points.
During the session, the Sensex reached a new high of 63,716 points.
Nifty increased by 0.4% to 18,891.1 levels at 10:19 am, and the Sensex increased by 226.1 points, or 0.36%. India VIX, a measure of market volatility, increased 2.5% to 11.05 levels during the session.
Except for Nifty Media, all Nifty sectoral indices traded in the green on Wednesday, led by a 1.3% increase in Nifty Metal and a 0.2% increase in Nifty Bank.
The heavyweight stock of Adani Enterprises rose 5%, while JSW Steel and Adani Ports both gained 2% in the morning trade. Metal stocks led the rally on the Nifty pack.
Dalal Street was under pressure from banking and financial stocks as HDFC Life, Kotak Mahindra, Axis Bank, and ICICI Bank experienced the biggest drops in the benchmarks.
