Infosys has an operating revenue of Rs. 157,045.00 Cr. on a trailing 12-month basis. An annual revenue growth of 6% is not great, Pre-tax margin of 23% is great, ROE of 29% is exceptional. The company is debt free and has a strong balance sheet enabling it to report stable earnings growth across business cycles. Infosys Limited (Infosys), formerly Infosys Technologies Limited, provides business consulting, technology, engineering and outsourcing services. Its end-to-end business solutions include consulting and systems integration, enterprise solutions, systems integration and advanced technologies. Business information technology (IT) services consist of application development and maintenance, independent validation services, infrastructure management, engineering services comprising product engineering and life cycle solutions and business process management; products, business platforms and solutions, including Finacle, its banking product, which offers solutions to address core banking, mobile banking and e-banking needs of retail, corporate and universal banks globally, and areas, such as cloud computing, enterprise mobility and sustainability. In addition, the company offers software products and platforms.

Infosys was incorporated in 1981 as Infosys Consultants Private Limited, a private limited company under the Indian Companies Act, 1956. It changed its name to Infosys Technologies Private Limited in April 1992, to Infosys Technologies Limited in June 1992, when it became a public limited company, and to Infosys Limited in June 2011.

Infosys completed its initial public offering of equity shares in India in 1993 and its initial public offering of American Depositary Shares (ADSs) in the United` States in 1999. In July 2003, June 2005 and November 2006, it completed sponsored secondary offerings of ADSs in the United States on behalf of its shareholders.

Infosys was established in 1981, founded by seven engineers Narayan Murthy, Nandan Nilekani, N S Raghavan, S Gopalakrishnan, S D Shibulal, K Dinesh and Ashok Arora (all former employees of Patni Computer Systems) in Pune, Maharashtra, India. The company was founded with an initial capital of $250, part of which the founder, Narayan Murthy, borrowed from his wife, Sudha Murthy.

The office was set up in the front room of Narayan Murthy's house, with the office registered at Raghavan's home address. It signed up its first client this year, Data Basics Corporation, in New York, USA. In 1983, Infosys relocated its headquarters to Bangalore and, in 1987, opened its first international office in Boston, USA.

With steady growth, the company renamed itself from Infosys Consultants Private Limited to Infosys Technologies Private Limited in 1992. In February 1993, Infosys made its initial public offer and was listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange in June 1993. With its listing price of INR 95 per share, it opened trading at INR 145 per share, and has given high growth to its investors.

In October 1994, Infosys made a private placement of 5,50,000 shares at INR 450 each to Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs), Financial Institutions (FIs) and Corporates. In March 1999, Infosys issued 20,70,000 ADSs (equivalent to 10,35,000 equity shares of INR 10 each) at $34 per ADS under the American Depositary Shares Program and the same were listed on the NASDAQ National Market.
